How to replace a stolen Italian residence permit

A stolen Italian residence permit, known as a permesso di soggiorno, should be reported and replaced through Italian authorities as soon as possible. The document proves your right to reside in Italy and may be needed for employment, healthcare, travel, banking, and dealings with public offices.
